Gas Street Social

Gas Street Social restaurant and cocktail bar opened at The Mailbox in March 2015, inspired by the cultural and industrial context of Birmingham’s rich history. Specialising in fresh, seasonal and shareable modern European cuisine, Gas Street Social also boasts an impressive drinks menu consisting of regional and international craft beers and fine wines. Gas Street Social offers a tantalising classic cocktail menu, which also features handcrafted signature creations and sharing drinks created by the award winning team at Birmingham based Shaker Consultancy.

The menu is very much focused on sharing and grazing, and is all freshly prepared on site and cooked to order. The popular Social Plates are designed to be served as either starters or tapas-style dishes for informal group dining. The menu changes seasonally, but dishes in the Social Plates selection can include a delicious warm Scotch Egg with black pudding, served with watercress and beer ketchup, or the delightfully retro Vol au Vents filled with a creamy free-range chicken breast and wild mushroom sauce. Main courses are served with a choice of fresh market side and include pan seared Tidenham Duck Breast with a homemade twelve spice sauce, or slow cooked Pork Belly with cider and sage.

Centred on the concept of informal socialising, Gas Street Social features large sharing tables, intimate booth areas and a cosy ‘Social’ area, providing the perfect venue for quick bites, lazy catch ups and great nights out. Gas Street Social benefits from a beautiful canal-side location, part of the popular Mailbox development, and overlooking the Gas Street Basin. Guests to the restaurant can enjoy al fresco dining throughout the summer months on the heated terrace or simply sit and sip a delicious cocktail while watching the canal boats go by.

Check out the exciting new Weekend Brunch menu here. The menu will run every Saturday and Sunday morning from 9am until 1pm serving some brunch favourites such as Full English breakfast, buttermilk pancakes, Eggs Benedict and Wagyu burgers – all with a unique GSS twist! Add to that great coffee, fresh juices, fantastic Bloody Mary’s and a ‘Bottomless Bellini’ offer, and we hope GSS will become a firm favourite for informal weekend get togethers.
