MASTERCHEF WINNER PING COOMBES BRINGS AUTHENTIC PAN-ASIAN CUISINE TO BIRMINGHAM
It seems like only yesterday MasterChef contestant, and people’s favourite, Ping Coombes, won the popular television series, after continuing to wow the judges with food inspired by her Malaysian heritage. Now, having taken on the role of Executive Consultant Chef for pan-Asian restaurant Chi Kitchen, Ping is bringing her authentic South-East Asian cuisine to the people of Birmingham!
Chi Kitchen, which is situated inside the Bullring’s Debenhams, arrived in the city last September, prior to the opening of their second venue in London on Oxford Street in November 2015. The restaurant offers a diverse all-day dining menu, designed to guide diners on a unique culinary journey through South-East Asia. The open plan nature of the city-centre restaurant, invites guests to watch the chefs at work, as they freshly prepare the Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean cuisine. With a wide selection of colourful, tasty and exotic dishes to choose from (which are also all Halal and free from MSG!), the Birmingham restaurant also features a Champagne bar and panoramic views of the UK’s second city.
Ping has continued to add her own personal twist to the diverse menu, and says of the restaurant; “Asian cuisine is obviously my favourite type of food, it can be simple yet so flavoursome and delicious. I love that Chi Kitchen shares my approach to food and dining, which is serving fresh ingredients in a warm and inviting environment.”
