Eat Local  – Save money and cut food miles

Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce has launched an exciting new campaign aimed at boosting trade for food producers and restaurants throughout the region.

Eat Local will promote the sale of local produce in hundreds of restaurants, pubs, bistros and diners throughout the region.

Warwickshire is already famed for producing some of the finest food and drink in the world – now the Chamber is looking to see more of this produce appear on menus around the region.

The Chamber has joined forces with The Gastro Card, the Midlands very own dining card, in a move to get more people into the area’s restaurants, eating the region’s first class meat, fruit and vegetables – not forgetting the ever- growing number of wines, beers and ciders.

The Gastro Card (sponsors of the 2009 Heart of England Best Restaurant Award) offers diners great savings every time they eat out, with exclusive discounts of up to 25% on food and 50% on wines at many top venues. Special discount offers are available for companies and organisations wishing to order 25 or more specially branded cards.

For the Chamber Dianne Williams said: “Encouraging people to ‘Eat Local’ is clearly good for food producers and local eating out venues across the region.

“Being linked with The Gastro Card also means we can show people how to save on their dining out costs”.

Anyone wishing to recommend a venue for the Gastro Card list or should visit www.thegastrocard.co.uk where details of how to buy cards are also available.
