Another great Wine Tasting competition from Connollys Wines and a great Gastro Card offer
Portugal: Probably the best wine you’ve never heard of….
Livery St., Birmingham
Thursday 22nd May, 6.30pm
Portugal presents a bit of a paradox to the UK wine drinker, being only remembered for Port, Madeira, and the horror of Mateus Rose. This situation is not helped that with a history of wine production dated back to pre-history, Portugal has as many distinct native varietals and styles of wine as Italy and France and, on top of that, refuses to use the same varietal name as the more familiar names from Spain.
Having said that, Portugal produces some simply stunning wines at amazing value, a fact drummed into Chris when he visited at the end of the year.
Join us in Livery St to try wines from areas you don’t recognise, made of grapes you can’t pronounce, but don’t worry, they’re all lovely…
To win a pair of tickets to this event, simply retweet and follow us both @connollyswineJQ and @thegastrocard or if you would like to email your name and in the subject heading Connolly’s Competition to firstname.lastname@example.org you can also enter.
This competition is now closed. The winner was Laura Smith – Congratulations and thanks to the wonderful Connolly’s Independent Wine Merchants.
