Well at the VMF Restaurant at Villa Park the food was excellent and looked as good as any top class restaurant would serve. We were told the chef’s and waiters were all apprentices on a two year hospitality course, they couldn’t have done any better. “We had another super meal at Essence. This was an Anniversary celebration for six of us and it was a real treat. One of the guys has wheat intolerance and they were very helpful over this. Excellent food choice and I particularly like the way you can easily mix and match the set menu and a la carte, and also the ‘for the table’ vegetables which arrive.fresh and perfectly cooked. The bottles of water on the table are a nice touch as well.
Two of us had sea-bass which was ‘to die for’ and the lamb shank which my husband had, yet again!! , just dropped off the bone, it was so tender.
The food is first-class.
It was all beautifully presented, and the service was excellent
Unusual for us, we had three courses, couldn’t resist the desserts!
I can’t recommend Essence enough, it is now our favourite restaurant, even though we live in Solihull and have a short drive there.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the savings made by using the Gastro card almost paid for the card in the first place.”

“What a fantastic evening we had at The Peacock, Oxhill – and who though pork could be served in so many ways?
My husband and I attended the Pig Out at the Peacock evening the other night and were delighted with everything about the place. The meal, which was made by guest chef Jon Francis with the help of The Peacock’s Yvonne, was absolutely fabulous. We discovered that Jon and his brother Nick run a nearby farm and keep the largest herd of Tamworth pigs in England.
The food was beautiful, the pub as friendly and lively as ever. If you haven’t visited it yet I suggest you do yourself a favour and make a booking soon.”

“Shah’s, Acocks Green has got to be one of the best Indian restaurants in the West Midlands. A brilliant menu and the food is excellent. This is much more than a curry house; this is the real deal when it comes to authentic Indian and Bangladeshi cooking. Let the waiters help you make your choices, they are very friendly and very knowledgeable. It may be a little off the beaten path but it really is well worth searching out.”

“The Norman Knight just outside Shipston on Stour – what a lovely pub and the food is memorable. It really is what you dream an Old English Inn should be like. We went at lunchtime and were amazed at both the choice and quality of the food. Great place to head for if you have an afternoon or summer evening spare and you’re looking to treat yourself. The beers are also spot on if you like real ale.”
