Varoshiotis Seafood Restaurant

Vasos Varoshiotis was 12 years old when he first went to Famagusta town in 1940 and started work in a restaurant cleaning plates and earning one pound a month. With his ambition and hard work it wasn’t long before he finally bought the business from his boss and took over the restaurant himself. With his wife Florendia working beside him and being the base from which the buisness prospered. 

It soon flourished and became a popular family restaurant being run by family members.

After the Turkish invasion in 1974 the family were forced to leave everything they owned and fled for safety. 

They settled in Laranaca where they soon opened a Fish Tavern on the seafront offering the good food, hospitality and excellent service which they had always provided. 

Today the restaurant has been taken over by the next generation of the family, and the rest as they say is history…. 

Varoshiotis Restaurant can be found at 7 Piale Pasia directly on the seafront in the Mackenzie area.
