Milebrook House Hotel
Lunch and dinner is served in this award winning restaurant (and on the terrace in the summer months), the kitchen serves freshly prepared food using flair and imagination by chef Christopher Marsden and his team. Milebrook House prides itself on its locally sourced and seasonal menu. Many of the vegetables are grown in its own kitchen garden, the rest are sourced locally. All meat is local, from the Welsh lamb and Herefordshire beef to the pork and organic chicken etc. and of course local cheeses. Seasonal game comes from the nearby Stanage estate.
Ice creams and sorbets are prepared often using own home-grown fruit. Bread, pastries and petit fours are all prepared in house. The modern British menu uses local and seasonal produce whenever possible.
Milebrook House is a family run hotel situated on the river in the heart of the Marches amidst the typical wooded rolling hills in the beautiful Teme valley.
It enjoys the ultimate borderland location, situated 2 miles from the picturesque market town of Knighton, 12 miles from the busy market town of Ludlow with its medieval castle, beautiful architecture and famous market.
Across the river are the Shropshire hills which have been designated an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”, a mile or so from the Herefordshire border famous for its black and white villages, cider and Herefordshire beef.
The local town (2 miles) is Knighton – Tref-y-Clawdd – the only town on Offa’s Dyke.
Glyndwr’s Way begins at the clock tower in the centre of the town, it’s no wonder Knighton is a mecca for walkers and ramblers.
Milebrook House was once the home of Sir Wilfred Thesiger the famous writer and explorer.
Milebrook is also the perfect place to stay for birdwatchers, a cycling holiday or for both the amateur and professional photographer with fantastic scenery and wildlife all around.
